TabrrLite
Safari new tab page with a bookmark dock, clock, and wallpapers
TabrrLite is a Safari web extension that replaces the new-tab page with a dock of bookmarks over a wallpaper, with a clock above it. It is packaged as a Mac app through Xcode so Safari can load it, and everything is stored locally in the extension’s own storage. There is no account and no sync.
The dock holds shortcuts, each with a name, URL, and an icon that defaults to the site’s favicon and can be an image URL or an uploaded picture. Shortcuts can be dragged into order and grouped into folders that open as a popup, with reordering inside the folder too. The fastest way to add one is from any page: right-click the page or a link and choose “Add this page to TabrrLite Dock”, and an open new-tab page updates at once. A per-shortcut “Open in Chrome” checkbox routes that link through the bundled OpenInChrome helper instead of Safari.
Settings cover the rest:
- Wallpaper: built-in presets, a custom URL, or an uploaded photo stored at full screen resolution. Match System Appearance keeps separate light and dark wallpapers and switches live with macOS.
- Clock: show or hide, seconds, color, and a vertical position slider that runs from the top of the window down to the dock.
- Dock: icon size and gap. The dock shrinks on its own as the window narrows so it never clips.
- Data: export and import everything as a JSON file.
