OpenInChrome
URL handler that sends a link to Google Chrome
OpenInChrome is a small Mac app with one job. It registers the
openinchrome:// URL scheme, and when a link using that scheme is opened from
Safari or any other app, it unwraps the real address inside it and hands it
to Google Chrome with open -a. It then quits itself a second later. There
is no window, no menu bar item, and no settings.
The point is to force a specific link into Chrome without changing the default browser. Some sites and internal tools behave better in Chrome, and a bookmark or shortcut can prefix its URL with openinchrome:// to route it there while everything else stays in Safari.
The handler strips the scheme, percent-decodes the rest, repairs the colon
that Safari drops from https:// when it passes the URL along, and adds
https:// if no scheme survives. Each step is written to a debug log in the
home folder so a misrouted link can be traced.
A trimmed copy of the same handler, built with swiftc instead of Xcode, ships alongside TabrrLite, where a per-shortcut “Open in Chrome” checkbox on the new-tab dock uses it.
